Editorial policy: how we compare tools

Our job is to help you decide. This page explains how we get to a recommendation and what we will not do to get there.

What we check

  • Pricing: current plan prices from the vendor's own pricing page, plus the costs that do not show up on it, such as transaction fees and paid add-ons.
  • Features: what each plan really includes, based on vendor documentation and product use.
  • Fit: which size and type of store a tool suits, and which it does not.
  • Downsides: every comparison and review lists real drawbacks, including for tools we recommend.

How we say what we know

Where we have used a tool ourselves, we say so in the article. Where a detail comes from vendor documentation or public pricing instead, we say that too. We do not invent test results.

Keeping pages current

Software prices and plans change often. Each article shows a "last updated" date, and we recheck pricing and plan details when we update a page. If you spot something out of date, please tell us.

Affiliate links and independence

Some links earn us a commission, as explained in our affiliate disclosure. Vendors cannot pay for a place in a ranking or for a better verdict, and a tool's commission rate is not a factor in our recommendations.

Corrections

When we get something wrong we fix it and update the date at the top of the page.
